Effective date: August 1, 2026
Pinola is a playful learning app for children ages 5 to 12 and their parents, made by Noi AB, a company registered in Sweden. Noi AB is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Because our youngest users are kids, we collect as little information as possible, we never show advertising, and we never sell personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us any time at support@wispy-ai.com.
1. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you inside the app.
2. Information we collect and how we use it
No account is needed to play. Your child can use Pinola without any sign-up, and we never ask for a child's name, email address, or phone number. A parent can optionally sign in to keep their subscription and parent report across devices, as described below.
Information that stays on your device. The child's name, learning progress, rewards and stickers, and the parent PIN are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. The child's name never leaves the device: the report shown to parents is personalized on-device. Deleting the app deletes this information.
Information sent to our servers. To deliver age-appropriate activities, narration, and the parent report, the app sends our servers:
- An anonymous device identifier created on first launch. It is not linked to a name, email address, or any real-world identity.
- The child's age band, chosen avatar, and the app language, so activities fit the child's age and language.
- Gameplay and learning events, such as which prompts were shown and which options the child tapped.
- Sentences the child types in the collaborative story, so the story can continue.
- The text of a story or activity when narration is requested, so it can be read aloud.
Purpose limitation. We use this information only to personalize content for the child and to produce the parent report. Processing includes third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf, and narration text is converted to speech by a third-party speech service. These providers act on our instructions and may not use the data for their own purposes.
If a parent signs in. When a parent signs in with Apple or Google, we receive the parent's name and email address and use them only to keep the subscription and parent report available across the family's devices. We never use them for advertising or marketing.
Subscription purchases. If a parent buys a subscription, the purchase is handled by the Apple or Google app store; we never receive payment card details. To keep the subscription active across devices, purchase and receipt data is processed by a third-party subscription-management provider acting on our behalf.
What we do not collect. Pinola does not collect photos, videos, audio recordings, contacts, precise location, or biometric data. The app does not use the camera or microphone.
3. Children's privacy
Pinola is designed for children under 13, and we take children's privacy seriously:
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described above. The only identifier we use is an anonymous one that cannot identify a child in the real world.
- We show no advertising of any kind: no third-party ads and no behavioral advertising.
- We use no third-party analytics, we do not track children across other apps or websites, and we do not build marketing profiles of children.
- Areas of the app intended for adults, such as parent settings and any external links or purchases, sit behind a parental gate.
We comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including COPPA and the GDPR, with the parent or guardian acting as the consenting party on the child's behalf. If you believe a child has provided us personal information beyond what this policy describes, contact us and we will delete it.
4. Parental consent and deletion
A parent or guardian grants consent during setup, before any information is sent to our servers. You can withdraw consent at any time in the PIN-protected parent Settings: withdrawing consent immediately erases all server-side data associated with the device and returns the app to a fresh state. If a parent has signed in, they can also delete their account there, removing the name, email, and the subscription and report data tied to it. This is separate from, and in addition to, withdrawing consent. For step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion without the app, see Delete your account.
5. Sharing of information
We share information only with third-party service providers acting on our behalf, for example generating age-appropriate activities, reading stories aloud, hosting our servers, and managing subscriptions on our behalf. These providers receive only what is needed to provide the service and may not use it for their own purposes. We do not sell personal information, and we never share it for advertising or marketing.
6. Cookies and tracking
The Pinola app and this website use no cookies, analytics, or third-party tracking technologies.
7. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete information associated with your device identifier at any time by contacting us. Deleting the app removes the child's profile, progress, and PIN from your device.
8. Data retention and security
We keep the device's server-side data only while parental consent stands; it is erased when consent is withdrawn. A signed-in parent's account data is kept until they delete their account. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect this data, including encryption in transit.
